Molasses Cake Christmas Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups sour milk
- 2½ cups sugar
- 1½ cups raisins
- ½ cup molasses
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1½ cups butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- ⅓ tsp allspice
- 1½ tsp soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 4 eggs
- 2½ cups flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sour milk, sugar, and molasses. Mix well.
- Stir in oatmeal, raisins, and butter until fully incorporated.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, ginger, and allspice until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving.
